Beer Bread

Grandma Schieb, David, Grandma Hertel

2 2/3 c. self-rising flour (be sure not self-rising cake flour)
1-12 oz. beer (can be non-alcoholic)

Heat oven 350-375° and grease a 9x 5x3 loaf pan. Put flour in medium bowl. Add beer and stir with large spoon or large rubber spatula. Scrape into bread pan. Bake 50-55 minutes until light brown.

Variations:
--Add 1 c. sharp cheddar cheese, ½ c. thinly sliced scallions (or sweet onion), 1 ½ t. poultry seasoning to flour. Add beer. Proceed as usual.
--Mix with flour 1 c. country olives, kalamata olives, or black olives, pitted and coarsely chopped. ½ c. grated parmesan cheese, and 1 ½ t. Italian seasoning. Add beer. Proceed as usual.
